"She pins her ears back all the way and is very nervous"

Dear Keith...

Thursday, December 28, 2006

When its feeding time and I have my horse in her stall, she pins her ears back all the way and is very nervous. I guess cause shes so excited that its time to eat. I've been tying her up and then putting the feed in her bucket, then petting her and talking to her till she settles down and then untie her and let her eat. This so far is not working. I want to prevent a dangerous situation from coming about with all this excitement. Am I doing the right thing? And just need to keep on doing it. I thought that if I could change her excitement to calmness just before eating with this autosuggestion it would be a safer place. I need help cause I have grandchildren around now and then. Bob
