What People Say About Our Clinics

Hi Keith,

I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for all your help at the Bishop Clinic. I certainly learned a lot about a horse going from 1 pound of pressure to 100 pounds! The clinic was priceless to me in dealing with emotions that came out of nowhere. And I have become much more aware of the little signs of resistance and am taking the time to work on them before they become HUGE!

It was wonderful to work with you. Your confidence in training is superior. Your calm demeaner and businesslike attitude mixed with humor did not go unnoticed. I have become much more determined to be successful in the Cert Program and I thank you for all your expertise. I look forward to working with you again sometime in the future.

Thanks again for a fun, very educational weekend.

Beth (Bishop, CA)

Hi Keith,

The young 2 year old paint horse I rode (in your clinic) last year was sold this spring to a really great family down by Minneapolis, MN. Actually the clinic I took last year from you was one on the selling points; I practiced everything you taught us and the people who bought him could tell I used your training methods (they really appreciated how well he was trained for a 3 year old).

I did however purchase a yearling 1/4 horse that I have been showing this year in breed halter class and showmanship. I have started him with his ground work and use the same techniques I learned in your clinic.

If you are coming next Summer (2008) I will have a horse to ride and definitely plan on riding in your clinic. Again thanks for all you do in the horse world. I truly appreciate your dedication and knowledge. I hope to see you in August, only if I am able to audit the class.

Take Care,

Beverly (Bemidji, MN)

Keith,

I just wanted to thank you so much for the clinic this weekend. I learned a ton, have a ton of material to practice, and had a great time learning it! I definitely feel like a door has opened for me and my horse.

Thanks again for your patience and humor and we hope to see you again sometime!!

All the best,

Amy & Quincy (Delton, MI)

"I had the pleasure of hosting Keith and Patrick at my ranch in November. I was extremely impressed with their training techniques. I am a loyal follower of the John Lyons method of training and I enjoyed the 're-fresher' training I received. Several of my boarders participated in the clinic and really learned a lot of usable techniques. They told me how glad they were to have been a part of it.

They all were on a 'horse high' as they put it after the clinic! We are all very much looking forward to their return in April. They have the CobbleStone Ranch 'stamp' of approval!"

Dear Keith and Patrick,

I can't thank you enough for the fabulous clinic you conducted at CobbleStone.  I learned so many helpful tips, tricks and training techniques.  I was very glad to learn the basics of the John Lyons way of training and am hopeful I will remember all that I learned!  I know I will be able to put many of the things to good use where my horse is concerned.

You and Patrick work well as "tag team" trainers and I very much enjoyed both of your styles.  The best part was being able to ride my horse which is something I have not been able to do for sometime.  I needed to learn a lot more than he did I think!

Thank you again for everything and I look forward to seeing you at a future clinic at our ranch.

Dear Keith & Patrick

I wanted to thank you both again for the wonderful training session at Pen-Beth Farm. My confidence has really improved since that day in September. My deepest gratitude to you both for your patience and for teaching me the skills I needed. Who knew I would be relaxed and trotting by my own choice by the end of our session! I thank my trainer every day for encouraging me to work with you guys.

I'm looking forward to working with you both again next year!

Best Regards,

Victoria Giuffre and "Candy," the Overo that now has "brakes"

Keith,

Come back to Delton, MI...I will be sure to be there again!! Awsome clinic and I have always been glad I attended.

Hi Keith,

I wanted to tell you what a great clinic that was! I have never been to one, even to observe. I was wishing the entire time that I had brought my horses. Your approach was so easy to understand. It was surprising to me to see the wide variety of rider experience. Now I know that even beginniners would be comfortable at one of your clinics.

I was told it was a small group, so I hope you will be coming back to the Grand Rapids area next year so I will have a chance to bring my horses. I love the John Lyons style of training and have been able to do a lot with my horses, but seeing it made things much easier to understand.

Thanks again,

Jeannine H. (Delton, MI)

Hi Keith,

The little Gypsy Vanner, Pippin and I had a great time at the clinic and we learned a lot. Thanks for coming this way!

Hello Gentlemen,

I just wanted to take a brief moment of your time to thank you once again (something I can’t do enough of) for a wonderful clinic, and an awesome weekend. Not only were you able to get me on my horse, keep me on my horse for more than 10 minutes, and boost my confidence through the roof, you also helped me learn to enjoy riding again. I do have to say that it was very hard going into the office this morning rather than to the barn.

Both of your abilities were amazing, and your way with horses and humans was very refreshing. It’s very hard to find someone that is as good at communicating with the human component of the team as they are with the horse. Sometimes I think the horses actually listen much better than the people, but your great sense of humor, your patience with us riders, and your kind words of encouragement really helped the lessons stick.

I already have 3 people who after speaking with me this morning regret not riding in the clinic and have asked when you’re coming back. My answer of “not soon enough” got many nods and I promised to let them know the minute I hear you’re back in our area.

I truly hope to see you both again soon, and hope to have made some improvements with both Knight and Freya so we can show off before learning new things.

All the best to you both. Thanks again for everything. If you ever need a reference or our help with anything please let me know.

Warmest regards,

Tammie Eichmann, Knight & Freya by proxy

Keith,

Just wanted to say Thank You for a great experience at the clinic in Pinewood, MN.

When it was all done, I was not sure what I had actually learned but went riding out at my boarding stable Thursday evening and it all came together. Some of the other boarders (who did not know I had been out of town doing training) asked me what I had been doing with Honey because she looked so good when I was riding.

I never would have guessed that things would have changed so much that other riders would notice! but there she was, trotting around collected and responsive.

Honey says she really does owe you a Budweiser for teaching me to keep my hands quiet unless I want her to do something!

Thanks much! Hope to repeat the experience in the next year or two.
(Boarders here are wondering about arranging a clinic in Grand Forks/East Grand Forks so may contact you about that at some point).

Hi Keith,

Thank you for the great riding clinic. What an asset you are to the horse world.

The knowledge I gained will help me termendously with my colt. I am looking forward to a future clinic.

Thank you again,

Beverly Hunt and Nipper (Bemidji, MN)

Hi Keith,

I wanted to let you know how much I really enjoyed the clinic and how much I got from riding in it.

Peanut and I are still working on softening every time I ride. He has gotten much better. Most of the time, I only have to apply just a little bit of pressure and he responds right away. He has stopped spooking now that I have exercises to keep his mind on me and not his surroundings.

Also, I have finally learned how to control the speed of his trot. He used to trot around the ring full speed and I would constantly have pressure on his mouth to slow him. I realized after your clinic that this is not the way to slow him down. We are still working on slowing his canter. Since he was trained to barrel race, this may take a little more time. I am confident that with your training methods I will be able to slow this gait down as well.

Hope to see you again in my area next year.

Thanks again,

Wendy Carroll (Church Hill, MD)

Dear Keith,

Thank you so very much for a your help and hands on at the clinic. It was a perfect weekend.

What a learning experience for Skeeter and I. We left the clinic different than when we came. It was just great. I questioned if I was a good enough owner for Skeeter, after having the one on one with you and Pat we are going to be Okay.

I feel much more confident. He is a different horse with me. I call it RESPECT. I have his, he has mine. We can take walks {bridle or halter} and he keeps his place. We haven't forgot our lessons. We do practice. I am fortunate to have a horse that is willing to learn and forgive me for my mistakes. It is definitely not always easy but well worth it.

Thank you again for your patience, encouragement and praise it really helped my confidence. My attitude and calm effects my horse in many ways and together we are going to be OK.....

Forever Grateful,

Deb Altrogge (Church Hill, MD)

Keith,

Was a very informative and entertaining clinic. I think it was great to watch each one of you get on someone else's horse and correct a behavior in such a short amount of time.

Thanks again for some awesome info and fun.

Susan Grady (Kansas City, KS)

Dear Keith and Patrick,

I just wanted to thank you both again for such a great clinic. You guys work well together and helped me learn to do the same with my horse.

I had hoped I would be able to pick up a few useful tools for working with my horses but, I had no idea I would take as much away from a two day clinic as you guys gave us. Your techniques are wonderful and your ability to present them to the group so that we could understand them and put them to work was truly magic.

As we went into the class, it was obvious that the horses and riders attending the clinic were all at different levels and I was amazed at the transformation of all horses and riders by the end of just the first day. Even people attending the clinic without a horse approached us and told us they could see our horses "getting it."

I really appreciate the amount of time you spent on each horse your willingness to stick around on breaks and after a class to help anyone work through things they were having difficulty with. As my horse and I show off our new clinic knowledge around the barn, many are wanting to know when you will be back so they can attend. Bleu and I hope it's soon.

Sincerely,

- June Brinson, Raleigh, NC

Hi Keith,

I think you might remember us from Madison North Carolina this past weekend. We were there all three nights as observers and was impressed at the information that Pat and yourself gave. Rhonda was your shadow out in the arena (long black hair) and she has been running her mouth since. Don’t really know how to shut her up now. (Ha Ha) I hope next time when you get close to North Carolina we can bring horses and join in the fun. I bought two pairs of your reins and an extra bit and plan on trying some of things that I observed this past weekend.

Again thanks,

- Charlie & Rhonda (Madison, NC)

- - -

Hi Keith,

I was at Madison NC and was your shadow.....lol. I have the tri- colored paint that I had at that time never ridden.

This past Wednesday at horsey school I got to ride my filly Arizona for the first time. My trainer was really impressed with my rein handling. I would have to owe that to you and Patrick.

Walking around with you and seeing up close how things are done ....and not done ....really paid off for me. Me and my horse did great and I want to thank you for being such a big help.

Don't be surprised if you see me and her and Charlie of course at the next clinic you have near us. I am really geared up to do some riding again..and soon!

You guys are super!!! Thanks again!!

Rhonda Towell (Madison, NC)

Keith,

Thanks to you and Patrick for offering a great clinic last weekend! You both were very helpful with my particular situation. I have tried some of the exercises with my horse, and he has responded very well!

Take care,

- Martha Minter (Madison, NC)

PS I wondered if I was going to like the rope reins, but now that I've ridden with them twice, I've been pleasantly surprised by the fact that I can send subtle cues with a "fat" rein. Thanks for encouraging me to try them.

Hi Keith,

I wanted to take a minute to thank you for the clinic this weekend. I learned a lot with my Haflinger. I was quite impressed with the progress with my husband's horse (the dirty palomino paint). We did not plan to take her as my husband was not up to two full days in the saddle with a "full spirit" horse that was not used to a snaffle bit. After the Friday demo, I asked my friend Cristi to ride her. Thanks for allowing her to be the multi-rider horse. This gave my husband, Jack, the opportunity to experience these methods himself, and still be able to walk! We look forward to our next meeting.

Thanks, again!

- Donna Boyer (Smiley), (Madison, NC)

Hey Keith and Patrick:

Just a quick note of thanks from Debra and I for a great horse learning weekend. For years I realize now I had been doing it completely wrong and was lucky enough I had horses patient enough to put up with me. Response, release works like a champ. A little bit of repetition and bingo we have a horse that doesn't mind doing what we ask. Now if I can train myself to release quickly and remember the basic steps to get me and my horse to the next level maybe I'll be a better rider. It'll be alot easier, safer, and enjoyable getting there.

Ya'll are great trainers, thanks again for the personal attention and instruction.

- Jeff & Debra Shook (Madison, NC)

Hello Keith,

We really enjoyed coming out this past weekend.

I did try the exercises on my Tenn. Walker who is almost 4 years old. He did really well with them, but most of all I was able to teach him the heads down and it really worked. I was so excited about that, I told everybody.

I had recently been reading in a magazine about the hip, shoulder over moves and did not understand exactly how to do it, till I saw you guys do it there at the class.

So I would just like to tell you thank you for coming close enough in the area that we could learn something from you two, to make our happy trail riding even better.

- Lisa Roach (Madison, NC)

- - -

(I) wanted you to know how much I enjoyed every minute of training in your clinic....can hardly wait for you to come back to the Orlando area again. I have been working with Trouble and she really seems to respond more and more each day. Also, thank you for the hint of playing the strap game with her while putting on her saddle....it works.... We are both having fun and more at ease each day.....

Your seminar was the best.....loved every minute....

Thanks again for all you did for us.

- Sally aka Grandma Sally (Lakeland, FL)

I am definitely in a glow after the clinic, (I) have worked with Catie the past two days and everyone here is blown away with the change in her. I was even able to close and lock the gate to the riding park while still on her, never an option before.

Thank you again for all you did. You guys are great and will be seeing us every time you come into this area. You've got me hooked!!!!! I will be praying for all of you for safety and great clinics as you are on this tour. Thanks again for all you did.

- Kellie Sipos (Lakeland, FL)

"We had a great experience with Patrick Benson and Keith Hosman at their Kansas City clinic.

I have taken the John Lyons magazines for some time but had difficulties applying the techniques from a printed page. In 3 days training of the Josh Lyons Techniques, I understood the theories and applied the exercises that Patrick and Keith demonstrated. The trainers demonstrated on my horse and allowed me to experience a ride on their horses, allowing me to get the feel of what should happen when the cues are given.

The change in my horse and my riding ability was remarkable!

It was physically and mentally challenging for me and my horse but well worth the effort. My husband attended as an observer and was also able to gain valuable information. We can't wait for the next opportunity! Thanks Patrick and Keith."

- Sharon Laningham, Kansas City, Kansas

A Letter From A Client:

"Dear Patrick,

Back in April when I first contacted you, I thought I had made the
biggest mistake in my life in the horse I had purchased. Not only could I not even walk him with a lead rope, he was skittish, and basically out of control. There is no way that I felt comfortable even being around him.

Today, well, it is a totally different story. After 6 months of you working my Quarter Horse, I still can't believe my eyes. He is so well trained, calm, and is basically the "dream horse" I had always hoped for. I can't thank you enough for what you have done with my horse. Please feel free to have any customers contact me, if I hadn't seen the difference you've made with my own eyes I wouldn't believe it.

If anyone out there is looking for the best horse trainer around who truly has a God given gift with working with horses, don't hesitate to contact Patrick Benson.

I can promise you, you won't be disappointed. Patrick truly cares!"

- Mimi Comfort, Lawrence, KS

You'll See Immediate Changes:

"I have had my horse, Hamlet, for 14 of his 15 years. Hamlet is not a dangerous or problem horse but there were holes in our communication that kept our training from progressing, i.e. Hamlet ran the show.

Keith worked with Hamlet and immediately zoned in on the issues at hand. Within a few weeks Keith had Hamlet and me on the same wavelength and we are well on the way towards working as together partners, not as master and servant, where I am the servant and Hamlet is the master.

I have worked with a countless number of trainers who were not able to accomplish as much after YEARS of 'training'. Thank you Keith! "
